Matt Mason/ Mr. Moose

Matt Mason/ Mr. Moose
I am your host for the evening.

The truth is out there... So bring it here!

Check out the welcome page for a better description, but basically I'm looking for answers. Answers to everything and anything and I want to share a few of my own thoughts and ideas with as many of you as I can.

There's nothing more thought provoking than the unsolved mysteries of unsolved mysteries... except maybe working out if that sentence makes any sense. But in any case I'm trying to get to the bottom of a few things and God knows I can't do it by myself. I lack the experience or to be honest the intelligence necessary to work out what most detectives and experts have struggled with for years, decades even in some cases centuries.

Someone out there must know something. Even if it's just a hypothesis that nobody else came up with.

But I also want to share with you some of my opinions in general. On this, that and a bit of the other. I want you in turn to share your opinions with me. There is plenty of food for thought here so bon appetite.

P.S. As I have mentioned above, the Welcome page is separate from this one and it will give you a bit more insight. This is just for starters.

Welcome

Prove Me Wrong

Interested in unsolved mysteries? Want to share your philosophies on life with people? Know something that no one else does? Here's the place to discuss it.

I like to discuss my interests with my friends and family and we always look up the same types of things online. We want to hear all about strange occurrences, unsolved mysteries and things that can't be explained or have more than one explanation; or the different theories people have on subjects like Jack The Ripper, The Mary Celeste incident and The Dyatlov Pass incident.
I have my own theories, or at least I know which ones I believe to be the most rational of all the explanations that have been put forward but of course you may disagree with me entirely and so I'd like to know what you think happened instead.

Vlad's gonna get ya'!
Pictured: A picture I took of my sister at Whitby Abbey grave yard. Notice the face that appears above her shoulder.

Vlad Tepes
You could start by letting me know what you think this is. I took this picture of my sister at Whitby Abbey grave yard in the middle of the night (above). We were looking for the infamous grave of Vlad Tepes which is meant to be there and found what we believed was the right one. You'll notice that a wolf like face appears next to her like it's going to bite her!! Richard Felix has even seen and tested the picture to try and explain it but can't find a natural explanation for it. It has been published with my permission in two books.

This is my first time writing a blog and I wanted to come up with a way to bring other people into discussions about the things I find interesting and see if I could interest them in the things I like.

In regards to subjects such as those I have mentioned above and other philosophies on life in general, I have my own theories and opinions which I would like to share with as many people as I can.

I do so with no arrogance or assumption that I'm right about any of this of course. I'm simply saying, 'This is my opinion'.

In a number of cases I have researched the information from bits and pieces online. I won't always come up with a new theory but I'll try to eliminate the less logical ones one at a time and explain which one makes the most sense to me. This will be my usual approach to existing mysteries that are already out there unless I discover something new. In some of the more philosophical posts I will be talking about things like luck, whether it is real or just in the mind and I'll give you my own conclusions. I will do the same with posts about things like my thoughts on what will happen in upcoming TV shows like Sherlock. The blog is an amalgamation of my own theories on this, that and the other or the theories I agree with most.

In a number of cases with unsolved mysteries in particular you will find that they have been solved a dozen times over but by many different people and with many different answers. You could read a book about Jack The Ripper say, and it will be called 'Jack The Ripper, case closed', or Jack The Ripper, mystery revealed', and they both have different conclusions. I believe this is because, everyone wants that claim to fame of solving what no one else could. But if you agree with what someone else says then no one will listen to you; it's old news, they will already have thoughts on the opinion and they will agree or disagree but not necessarily care what you have to say. So along comes a tale of a new suspect nobody suspected before for reasons that are far fetched and they'll read too far into it to sell the idea to as many people as they can.

You will find in most cases as I have myself by looking into these subjects, that more often than not peoples fascination with mysteries and the unknown leads them to all sorts of conclusions and ideas that range from the rational to the absurd. A classic example is with urban legends. Some of these are completely untrue made up stories and some are based on real events but through exaggeration and Chinese whispers they get re told so many times that they are changed ever so slightly one bit at a time until facts become fiction and the whole story is made up.

My belief is that there is a rational explanation for everything you just have to look hard enough for it.

I will take a hypothesis about absolutely anything and share it with you. If you disagree with what I have to say then that's fine. But rather than simply say that you think I'm wrong I'd like to know why you think I'm wrong.

What do you know that I don't? What have I overlooked? Rather then just tell me that you think I'm wrong- 'Prove Me Wrong'. I'd like to know what you think and to see if you'll open my eyes to something I never considered. A new way of looking at something or something I didn't know about the subject itself. Perhaps you have learned or are aware of new information that nobody else knew. Tell me about it.

I believe this is the best possible way for people to share their interests with each other, get into discussions about things and even get to the truth.

You can also ask me for my opinion on things I may not have mentioned yet. Slender Man for instance or Spring Heeled Jack. Or an urban legend you heard or just something you thought of yourself that came to you one day in a dream or while you were at work. I look forward to hearing your ideas, philosophies on life or things you may have heard of that I never have.

Over the next few pages I will discuss:

  • The Mary Celeste Incident
  • The Dyatlov Pass Incident
  • Luck
  • The Eilean Mor Lighthouse keepers
  • and more...

I will regularly try to keep updating this with new ideas that come to mind and I'll try my best to keep it interesting. Hope you enjoy.

As an incentive to try an persuade people to think rationally about each situation, I'm going to add a riddle to each page. The thing about riddles is that there's always a right answer, but only one right answer. However there is usually more than one answer that would work. So the more you try to figure it out the more rational your mind becomes. You analyse it from every angle and start to use logic. I'll print the answer on each page that follows. Enjoy...

Riddle me this:- There are six eggs in a box. There are six people and each one of them takes one of the eggs without ever putting it back. How does one egg stay in the box?

Remember, as Dr Who once said, 'Nothing is inexplicable, only unexplained'.

  1. Unfortunately this picture doesn't show up as well here as it does on my laptop. But it is being published in a book soon so keep an eye out for it.
